What is the Learning Disposition Wheel?
At Forest Lodge, we use the Learning Disposition Wheel as a shared language and practical framework to help our students and staff develop essential lifelong learning dispositions. These dispositions enable learners to engage deeply with their learning, strengthen their self-awareness and build positive relationships with others.
Cognitive Domain
The cognitive domain encourages learners to think critically, question thoughtfully and explore ideas creatively. By asking questions, solving problems and expressing their thinking clearly, students deepen their understanding and develop stronger connections to their learning.
Intrapersonal Domain
The intrapersonal domain supports learners to develop resilience, maintain focus and approach learning with curiosity. By learning to manage challenges, regulate emotions and stay engaged, students build confidence in themselves as capable, independent learners.
Interpersonal Domain
The interpersonal domain focuses on developing empathy, collaboration and positive influence. When students learn to communicate and work with others effectively, they gain new perspectives and build meaningful connections.
Our Journey
At Forest Lodge, we recognise the importance of explicitly teaching and embedding the Learning Disposition Wheel into our programs and daily practice. As part of our Transforming Schools journey, students and staff engage with the Wheel as a shared language to reflect on strengths, identify areas for growth and set meaningful learning goals. This framework helps us to create a learning environment where students are supported to take on challenges, reflect on themselves as learners and build strong connections with others.
